Bioré UV AQUA Rich Watery Gel Review

Are you afraid of the big bad wolf?

Yes I am! But I’m more afraid of the SUN! The weather is getting crazier each day! Sun protection is a must in tropical country like Singapore! Summer all year long!!

I’m glad Bioré came up with the new UV AQUA Rich Watery Gel!!

Girls like me who are very prone to pigmentation should NEVER skip sun protection! Rain or shine, I always put on my sunblock!! Even when I’m indoor, sunblock is still a must!

I’m not trying to scare you but did you know that prolonged exposure to the sun’s UV rays without proper protection can cause permanent effects such as premature skin ageing, wrinkles & freckles, as well as, various skin damages like discoloration, sallowness, dryness. In extreme cases, they can also lead to skin cancer!

The most damaging UV rays can be classified into different wavelengths, known as UVA and UVB. UVC is the shortest wave and usually do not penetrate the Earth’s Ozone Layer.

UVA rays penetrate into the deeper layers of our skin as compared to UVB rays, and are also the dominant tanning ray. The penetrative ability of UVA rays through glass means that even when you’re seeking shelter indoors, your skin continues to be exposed to its harmful effects which can cause cumulative damage such as wrinkling and skin ageing.

On the other hand, UVB rays cause the most damage to the outer layer of skin such as reddening of skin and sunburns. Without proper protection, prolonged exposure to UVB rays can cause long-term damage to skin’s epidermal layers.

Sunscreen products are rated based on two rating systems, known as the Skin Protection Factor (SPF) and the PA rating system. The SPF rating determines the duration of time your skin stays protected against UVB rays from the sun.

The calculation method is simple – SPF Rating x (no. of minutes for skin to darken under sun) = No. of minutes skin is protected from UVB rays!

Example: SPF50 x 20mins = 1000mins of protection from UVB (equivalent to 16 hours of protection)

Do bear in mind that the higher the SPF, the more likely it will be oilier (and heavier too)..

On the other hand, the PA rating is a Japanese rating system that shows how much protection you are receiving against UVA rays. The higher the number of pluses, the greater the protection against UVA rays. Currently, the highest standard of PA protection in the industry is PA++++.

My stash of… Makeup Remover!

Yes.. It’s time again to share some loveee with you! I realize I’ve been stocking up lots of makeup remover lately!!! Not because they’re good/bad but most of the time it’s because of SALE!

So which of those I’ve been using are worth mentioning?? Read on to find out…

If you’re a loyal reader, I’m sure you’re aware that I had recently received a Biore Micellar Cleansing Water for review (you can read from HERE).. So amazed with the result, I decided to pull out ALL my “Micellar” remover to do a comparison! Spoiler: I’m really mind blown with the result of Biore Micellar Cleansing Water!!

So before I start removing my makeup, I must have some makeup on right?? Thanks to my left hand, she decided to sacrifices herself for this test!!

In this makeup, I’ve used La-Roche Posay BB cream, Benefit mascara, K-Palette liquidliner, NYX blush stick Shiseido lip color and Misline compact powder.. Eyeliner is 100% waterproof/smudgeproof!!

This is not micellar related but this is my so-call current makeup remover – Biore Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover… Why is it “so-call”? Because this is the makeup remover which I will constantly buy when it runs low. IMO, it’s good as it can remove waterproof mascara without much effort and I chop chop remove my makeup quickly while in shower..

See it’s not “water” form but more like gel…

Side note: There no need to use cotton pad when using this remover. Now this is just for show and to keep the consistency of the test as close as possible..

Usually, I will just pump 2 times on my hand and start massage gently onto my skin to remove makeup.

I placed the cotton pad on half of the “face” for about 30 sec (or so, didn’t really count the time)..

Can you guess the result??…..

*drumroll*

jiang-jiang~ not bad right!? Just one wipe and 80% (of half the face) makeup gone…

2-3 more wipe and I’m clean!!! Like I said, proper usage of this remover is to apply directly onto skin and gently massage to remove makeup. That way, it can be result will be more effective.

How many star will I rate this? 4 stars!!

Will I buy it again? Yes! It very convenient to use and, again, it’s effective!! Most importantly, it’s pretty friendly to my pocket.. I think it’s about S$25+/- for 230ml (let me go check out the price and update you again!!!)

Next in the list….

Inseta H2O Tonic Lotion – Makeup Removing Lotion! This is a delicate cleansing lotion for eyes, lips and face. Best of all, No rinse required!! Oh and oh and!! It’s suitable for sensitive skin too

There isn’t much information found online but what I can share with you is that, this is a product of Italy (Made in Italy) and so far, I haven’t seen it in Singapore. Then where did I bought it? From Hong Kong, a retail shop call Colourmix (feels like SaSa/Beauty Language)!! 坐过 Cathay Airline的卸妆水哦~

Actually I didn’t planned/expect to buy this but the staff came to me while I was looking at Bioderma makeup remover. She started to promoting Inseta saying that the price is just a fraction of what I’m holding and quality is comparable too! Well, looking the price, I think I have nothing to lose too (I’m already in HK, there no need to save what I’ve already prepared to spending!)

So with appropriate amount of it, I placed it on the other half of my “face”..

Wow… this is pretty clean!!

With the 2nd swipe, waterproof makeup is gone!

Indeed it’s comparable with Bioderma but sadly i can’t find it in Singapore.. If your ever go to Hong Kong and interested to try it, drop by Colourmix and grab yours at HKD98 (500ml; about S$16+/-)..!

How many star will I rate this? 4 stars too!!

Will I buy it again? I really don’t know! I like it that it’s suitable for sensitive skin, the convenience of “no-rinse” and doesn’t make my skin feels dry! Even if I want to buy, I think I will need to save some air fare first.. =X

Makeup all being lifted up!! I’m amazed! I mean.. When I try it on my face previously, I thought it was pretty “wow” already because I didn’t even hold for 30 sec and makeup were removed.. BUT NOW YOU SEEE!! My makeup literally being lifted up and goneeeee!!!

2 wipe is almost clean!!

How many star will I rate this? 5 stars of course!! It’s very rare a makeup remover can excite me sooo much!!

Will I buy it again? Definitely a YES! In fact I might just replace the Aqua Jelly to this as my regular remover!! Price? S$18.90 for 300ml (if I do a lil math, for 500ml it will cost about S$31.50) Hmm double the price of Inseta but definitely cheaper than Bioderma.. Well, at least they had made it look affordable!

“Wah, only $18.90! That’s less than $20!” mentality.. LOL..!

Finally at the last (but not least) product… Biodema Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution!

This is my most expensive makeup remover that I have ever purchased. It was about S$40+ when this 500ml first launch in Singapore! Madness! If you really like this yet have a tight budget, go find out who’s going Hong Kong and ask them to help you get a few back! It’s much cheaper buying from Hong Kong (I’ll share the price with you at the end of the post..)!

Indeed you get what you pay for! Despite the high price, it can effectively remove my makeup without much effort and (importantly) doesn’t cost and dryness nor prickly sensation on my skin… Woohoo! However, if you have sharp eyes I’m sure u can see that the mascara (or eyeliner, idk) isn’t really cleaned up on my hand. There’s still a lil dot on my hand but again just one more wipe and I’m all cleaned and good!! (oh yeahhh)

How many star will I rate this? 4.5 stars! 0.5 was deducted for the cost!! >_<

Will I buy it again? YES but maybe the 100ml for travelling use..! As promise, here’s the price for the different size..

100ml at S$15.90 (promo: S$9.90)
250ml at S$29.90 (promo: S$23.90)
500ml at S$46.00 (promo: S$39.90)

And if you’re buying from Hong Kong, Colourmix is selling 500ml pack at HKD135 (approximately S$22) – Almost half price~ kaoz!

So to summarized it all, here’s my favourite makeup remover from left (being most love) to right (being the least love)..

How sad to see my once sooo loved Aqua Jelly become last in the list!! :X BTW, I wanna emphasize I did NOT draw the makeup on the cotton pad for Biore Micellar Cleansing Water ok pls~!! In case anyone thought it was being draw on.. -___-

Update on 1 Jun 2015: Nearly forgot to update this post with my makeup remover update!! Probably few months back, I bought Legere’s cleansing oil stick! Like what the name suggest, it’s a oil stick to remove makeup!

I thought it was pretty interesting and had effectively remove my makeup from the back of my hand (from all those sampling) then!

Well, bringing it home and doing it on my face is a different story.. I don’t really like the process of using this to remove my makeup.. Too many “corners” can’t be clean thoroughly.. 😦 You can check out my post here for more details..

Bioré Micellar Cleansing Water

I seldom have confident using cleansing water to remove makeup. Why? Because most of them cause irritation to my eyes when get in contact.. 😦 I’m a lazy person and I often look for makeup remover that is ALL IN ONE! Must be able to remove not only bb cream/foundation but also (waterproof) eye makeup! Another thing which isn’t very important but good to have is to be rinse-free for my SUPER lazy days – maybe I should say, ultra tired days!

Recently, I’m being introduced to Bioré’s new product – Micellar Cleansing Water!!

I’ve been using Bioré makeup remover since N years ago! The first Bioré remover I tried was the Cleansing Oil (purple lil pump bottle) then later they came up with this Hydra-Clear makeup remover which made mi fall in love with it immediately! Until recent years, they launch the new Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover – Man! That’s an awesome product! Since then, I stick to it like a loyal fan (of course occasionally when I get bored, I will try other brands too)..!

Now, I’m excited to try the LATEST creation by Bioré – Micellar Cleansing Water!!

Ok, after a day at work, here’s my half melted makeup (pardon the messy me!!)! Let try and see how well it can remove my makeup!!

(Eye: Solone / Blush: Canmake / Lip: VDL / Foundation: SKII)

Take a piece of cotton pad and push the pump 2 (or 3) times.. Basically you just have to wipe wipe wipe~

For eye makeup remover, press over eye and hold for 5 seconds and gently wipe it off..

See.. it’s that easy!

I used about one cotton pad for half of my big face & to show you the soaked cotton pad really “absorbed” all my makeup, I took a clean one and place it side by side! Seee.. I know.. *gross* LOL!

In total, I used 3 cotton pad to removed my makeup – actually 4 cotton pad to be exact but the last cotton pad was rather clean so.. My face is cleaned already!

What I think?? Awesome!! No oily/sticky feeling and no skin irritation/outbreak on my face! I feel safe to even pat on my toner/moisturize and jump onto my bed!! Tell me what’s better than both cost & result effective!!

Minimize Your Pores!!

Hi Guys! If you had followed me on twitter, you will know that I had planned to do this post. What is this post about? *drumroll* PORES MINIMIZING of course!! I’ve been crazy over beauty products that claim pore minimizing or effectively remove blackheads! Below products are those that I had tried and guess what!? I think i found my love out of this 4 products! I’ll just show you what I’ve used (details post will be shown in provided link) and give you a summary of what I think/recommend towards the end! So now….. The most common product that everyone ever used (I bet) is Biore pore pack!

IMO, it does remove blackheads but probably only for the first time you’ll see blackhead being “pull” out.. Subsequently… (you know~) You’ll start wondering why your nose still looks the same (full of blackhead).. Well not long after I gave up on pore pack and decided to source for something else.. Then I was given Skinmiso Pore Minimiing Pack to try (from Bellabox)!! “WOW” was my immediate reaction! It’s painless! It’s soothing! It’s amazing! (Biore pore
pack tends to be a lil painful when we remove it too late – it’s too dry!) It’s a 3 step pore minimizing pack but not tough to do at all..! If you want to be pretty, that’s the price you should pay – time! I’m not going details about it in this post because you can read my review from HERE and HERE. The next pore minimizing pack that I found is from Caolion! Read lots of (positive) review about it and decided to make this “investment”!! Bought my Caolion from Qoo10 (Seller: Wishtrend)! This mask is slightly more time consuming than the previous.. Why? Because it’s a wash off mask and is preferably 2 step mask.. You can read the details of my review on this product HERE.. Now for my FAVOURITE pore pack!! SexyLook Blackhead Pore Cleanser Set!!!

This pore pack has a very sweet strawberry scent.. Not those disgusting sweet! It’s pretty pleasant to me!

It’s also a 3 step pore pack but less time consuming and less messy.. All you need to do is apply the sebum softener (step 1) massage for 2-3 minutes then rinse off. Do it when watching TV, 2-3 minutes will just *poof* and gone. Then apply the strawberry sebum purifying mask. It’s a peel of mask! I love peel off mask!! This is why i said less messy! All you need to do is peel and throw and you can proceed to step 3 – pore treatment essence! The simplest step! Just apply and you’re done!

For result, I think Sexylook gave me the most satisfying result!! Seeeee!! Black heads! White heads! My nose is clean like hell!

For ease of use, it’s gonna be the traditional pore pack! ….But seriously for consumers who wants to remove black head I believe a little more “inconvenience” won’t be that difficult!

Makeup No More~!

TODAY!!! nothing too special .. just that TODAY is my LAST day at work…. as a contractor!! congratz to self!! From next mth onwards, i will officially become a part of my company!! I’m finally a pemenant staff!!! YEAH!! V(^___^)V

Hee! ok.. after that little good news, now im gona share is this… BIORE Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets!! It’s alcohol-free and instantly remove all traces of makeup, even waterproof mascara! dun believe? read on!

This pack contain ONE sheet and this one sheet is enuff of remove my makeup! Each moist sheet contains cleansing oil that can remove stubborn makeup gently and effectively! Sooo how big is this ONEEE sheet??

This BIG.. my fleshy palm size big.. >_< haha! sorry for the poor resolution! oops!

I’m trying to show you the “effectiveness” of removing makeup, so i tried to do some self shot.. but.. seems like im not very camera friendly today.. SO! no decent pics except those below!!

I’m wearing The Makeup Store’s Makeup Base, Ettusais’s BB Mineral Cream, KATE’s Mineral Loose Powder, Cybercolor’s blusher, KATE’s Gel Eyeliner Pencil. It’s a smudgeproof and waterproof (maybe?) eyeliner. Kinda love Kate’s eyeliner.. Bobbi Brown’s waterproof mascara & The Makeup Store’s Blotting Powder. Madly in love w TMS’s Blotting Powder! Probably will do a post on that some other day!! hahahaha!

So now, i took my cleansing sheet and hold firmly on my eyes for… 5 seconds (ok! i hold more then that!).. AND……….

Mascara OFF~ ok it din show alot here.. but it really did came off.. Just that i need a few more rubs. i used half of the sheet to remove half of my face…!

and how did i feel?? i feel my EYES IMMEDIATELY BECAME SMALLER!! hahahaaha!! nah! I admit i have small eyes! small cute eyes! >_< geez..

Back to my qn! well i feel it’s not bad! Considering it did remove my waterproof mascara, did not “hurt” my eyes and less messy than gel or oil. it does not have sticky feeling or leave oil trace on your face. I think this will be ideal for us ladies who like to travel (getaway/holidays) light.

It’s like just ONE sheet per night (end of makeup day) and u are clean. Definitely better than bringing the whole bottle of makeup remover out then bring back the whole bottle (unfinish) back home again.

If you have read my blog often, you would know that i’m using Biore Gel Remover and i’m loving it. So i think for my case, i’ll definitely keep this cleansing sheet for travel use rather than buy whole pack and use as normal removal process.

August Trove – Rocket Science

Ah ha! It’s time again for the once a month thingy!! Ah.. Don’t worry! It’s not menses time.. It’s Vanity Trove time!!!

This month’s trove was a bit late.. And with the courier service “mis-delivery” it’s even later.. What actually happen? Ah.. Long story.. But since u insist to know, I will share a bit! (hahahaha!!)

VT had announced (on FB) that trove will be late but will still be arriving bef Aug! I’m waiting with my neck longer than giraffe’s! And on 31st morning, while I was out in the morning, the courier came! Shucks!! Y no call me!?

I called courex back to arrange for re-delivery anytime that day as I’ll be home WHOLE DAY! But they said the earliest date for re-delivery is 2Aug! Man~~! At the same time I checked w them izit a norm that courier guy not calling bef delivery? And guess wat, they said only upon request then they will call bef delivery.. (thn wat’s e diff w this courier and Singpost Registered Mail??) So I decided to drop VT an email.. With VT’s reply I’m sure we think alike! Courex should call before delivery! That is the norm! What is Mr. Courex (i’m not mentioning name but I’m keeping the delivery notification w his name) doing?? Where is the good service courex USED TO have??

Sigh…..

Anyway, here’s my trove! Kinda weird to see a pack of sth taped outside the Trove.. Did they forgot to put it in or was it an extra due to the delay??

Plenty of fun stuff!!! Quite happy with this month’s trove as it doesn’t have facial foam, toner & moisturizer anymoreeee!! Yippie!!

Just tried the grape seed extract.. WAH !! I feel as if I will hv diabetic on the spot! Hahahah!! So sweet so thick!! But the aftertaste is so yummy! Hahaha… A lil sourish but not to the extend u will goes >_

Here is the apple of my eye!! This shower gel smell sooooooo nice! It made mi feel like I’m showering in some 5 stars hotel!!! I used it this morning and I can still sense the fragrance lingering around mi when I’m in office for almost half a day already!! If it is cost effective, I might consider getting a regular size!?? Hiak hiak hiak!!! Heartz!!

Next next!! Eye therapy mask~ planned to try it tmr… Shall update over the weekend!! ^^V

UPDATE on 11 August 2012: here’s my very late update!! finally got my chance to use this eye mask last weeeek..!

Generous serum in a pack.. might not see it in my pic.. but its really der, just that the angle i took my pic is… ya BAD!

The mask.. It’s a one whole pcs thingy!! now even the neglected area get some nourish!! hahaha.. i’m not sure to say its good or it’s bad..

Good because i feel less tired aft the masking session. i dono izit because i just took a power nap of 10mins or because it really makes mi feel better.. HAHA! & bad because other than that i don’t feel anything special..

Probably other type of mask may be better for mi.. geez~!

Well well.. Here’s Origins anti aging serum!! Shall I keep this for myself or gv to mama?? Hmm…

It is said to have color warning ‘function’!! If the appears to be yellowish/greenish brown, u shd consult a gynae. If its pure yellow, u’re normal. Cool? U decide!

Pure Beauty Bon Voyage Essential eye cream! I think my mom will love mi for sharing this with her!! She love this eye cream!! I had got this too from previous special trove!! The mild rose scent is really attractive!!

This is Majorlica Majorca Eye Reset gel a.k.a. eye makeup remover.. this is good.. almost works the same like my Biore Jelly makeup remover. Just that this is specially for eye area.

Just a little bit like this, smaller then 10c coin, i can remove my eyeliner (waterproof gel liner from Kate)..

PLEASE! pardon my *uncensored* untrimmed brow! i waiting for it to grow so that i can visit Erabelle! LOL!! (You’ll find out why Erabelle soon!)

Here.. see.. my eyeliner is gone without much effort.. Its a good eye makeup remover IMO. but since i already have my Biore jelly makeup remover, which can remove waterproof eye makeup too, i don’t see a point in why should i purchase this. But if u are those who needs specifically EYE makeup removal, i will recommend you to get it.. It’s quick and easy!

Alright.. summary of this month’s trove? LOVE! in fact i prefer this month’s. Tho last month is all about atas brand but giving my sth branded yet not useful to me seems pretty useless. (wah.. wat am i saying?) But its still good to have them as i can hold on to them till the day i ran out of any products (toner/moisturizer/facial foam) i can just grab one and try it!

You know, i tends to wash my hands more often after changing my hand soap to Kirei Kirei! i love the foamy soap and the fruity smell is definitely a plus factor!! and what’s even better??
