Pacman in action!

It’s been soooooo LONG since I last try another nail art! Today I’m gonna show you (in my nail art) what the 90s kid have been playing!! ……..The Pac-Man!!

Pac-Man (パックマン Pakkuman) is an arcade game developed by Namco and first released in Japan on 22 May 1980. It was licensed for distribution in the United States by Midway and released in October 1980. Immensely popular from its original release to the present day, Pac-Man is considered one of the classics of the medium, virtually synonymous with video games, and an icon of 1980s popular culture. Upon its release, the game – and subsequent Pac-Man derivatives – became a social phenomenon that sold a large amount of merchandise and also inspired, among other things, an animated television series and a top-ten hit single!

How to play? The player controls Pac-Man through a blue maze, eating pac-dots and fruit. When all pac-dots are eaten, Pac-Man is taken to the next stage. Between some stages one of three intermission animations plays. Four enemies (I usually call them “ghost” – Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde) roam the maze, trying to catch Pac-Man. If any of them touches Pac-Man, a life is lost and the Pac-Man itself withers and dies. When all lives have been lost, the game ends. Of-course this is not as easy as it seems but I’m not gonna go into details of it..

Without further ado, shall I introduce my Pac-Man & Ghost to you?? Heee!! 😀

On my index finger, it’s Oikake a.k.a. Shadow (Blinky), which is the Red Ghost.

On my middle finger, it’s Kimagure a.k.a Bashful (Inky), which is the Cyan Ghost (well, because I don’t have cyan polish so i used alternative closest color..)

On my ring finger, it’s Machibuse a.k.a. Speedy (Pinky), which is the Pink Ghost (I think light pink doesn’t looks good on me so i changed to a lilac polish)

On my lil finger, it’s Otoboke a.k.a Pokey (Clyde), which is the orange Ghost.

In case you’re wondering what the Japanese name means… Here a quick translation:

<Name> – <Meaning>

Oikake – Chaser

Kimagure – Fickle

Machibuse – Ambusher

Otoboke – Stupid

On my thumb, needless to say, he’s our Pakkuman a.k.a. Pac-Man and his pac-dots!! *clap-clap-clap*

My apologies for the super untidy edge, especially on my thumbs! I think I need to put my pair spectacles to good use already! T_T

Anyway, hope you like this Pac-Man design and give it a try too!!

Yes.. Remember in my previous post I mentioned about some campaign SampleStore has with SaSa Singapore? Well… It’s actually a joint collaboration between the two for SaSa Beauty Lookbook. I’m glad (more than glad!!) that I have the honor to share one of my nail art tutorial on their first issue!!

That post was posted in Facebook by SaSa SG in March. By now I think the Beauty Lookbook Issue 1 should have been out of stock already? Who will be kind enough to tell which SaSa outlet still have it!!? I wanna grab a copy too!!!

Oppa Gangnam Style!

Before we start.. .Let’s relax and enjoy one music video!

I bet you already have some clue what my post is gonna be about!! Yeah.. It’s KPOP!! TBH, I’m not a die hard KPOP fans! I don’t know who is 2NE1, 2am (was it 2pm??) nor Super Junior.. The only person I can relate to KPOP is… PSY (pronounce as “saɪ” not P-S-Y.)! His Gangnam Style exceeded 1 billion views on YouTube, becoming the first and currently only video to do so in the website’s history! With that much view rate, no wonder his song & his name get sink into my brain!! (When I first watch his MV I was like….. “Who is this UNCLE!!? but well.. he made an impression indeed!)

Without further ado.. Let’s start talking about our Gangnam Style nail art!! Although the Gangnam craze had been looong gone but since it suit the KPOP theme, I decided to still go with it!

The nail polishes that I’m going to use in this nail art tutorial is sponsored by Samplestore.com. It’s one of their nail art campaign with SaSa. These are the colors that I had chose for my nail art! Blue/Yellow/Green/Pink/White/Black! All these polishes are by Cyber Colors! They’re quite opaque! Most of them are good to go in one regular coat. Although the formula may not be as good as OPI but they have broad brush (I will take a pic of it to show u later)! It made application easier then others brand.

Here’s my nail art under natural lighting.. Pardon some jaggy stroke as I lost focus! =X

Here’s with my iPhone 5 flash..!

To start, apply base coat to all nails before base color.

Thumb finger: Cyber Colors Blue

Index & Middle finger: Cyber Colors White

Ring finger: Silver glitters

Little finger: Cyber Colors Yellow

We are gonna create Psy’s sunny shade on our thumb! To do this, we will need to:

Use a black striper to draw a line across your nails
Next, draw two letter “U” below the line
Another two lines from top to connect to each end of the “U” making the sunglass ear hook. Remember to curve inwards on the top of the line
Lastly, filled the lens with black polish to complete the sunglass!

On your index finger, use a dotting tool and start dotting random colours onto your nail like above picture.

Next, use a smaller dotting tool to add white dot onto the colour dots and a striper to slice other colour dot into half. Not to worry if the lines are obvious. After a top coat, it will look better.

This is actually Hyuna’s clothes in the MV! Did I get the girl’s name correct?? I did not fill it in with numbers as the dots are TOO SMALL, excuse me! Even if I can write, I wonder if you can read! >_< haha!

Next is where I lost focus.. oh goshhh…

My middle finger shall be for Psy’s blue suite! To get this look:

Apply blue polish on the side of your nail per illustrated
Do the same for the other side making the white polish looks like a “V”
Use a black striper again to draw two curve line to make the collar, two horizontal line as pocket and a straight line down to complete the jacket’s look
For the bow, draw a “X” and join two ends with vertical line per illustrated
Fill it in with black polish to complete the bow’s look

At least it still look like a suit from far. LOL..

After that we can proceed to the easiest part of the nail art…

The Silver GLITTER!! All you need to do is paint you nails silver!! I used some random nail art glitter to get this done.. Having glitter nail actually give the overall nail art a louder look but don’t over do it (ie: apply on more than one finger nail)!! It will look too exaggerated!

Little finger is a little more time consuming..

You will have to use some tape to divide your nails into a few sections per illustrated. Make sure your base color is completely dry so that you won’t be peeling the base color off when you are removing the tape.

I used Cyber Colors green polish to fill in alternate section to give it a disco light effect. Wait about 30-45 sec to peel off the tape and let it dry now. Don’t wait for too long to peel it off as it will be difficult to remove when the polish is dried.

When all is done, protect your nail art with a top coat!!!

Now who says it’s too late for some OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!!? *dance*

DIY Polish from Eye Shadow!

Yes, you can create your very own nail color from an old eye shadow. This is not new but it’s my first time trying it..! So I’m pretty excited ’bout it actually!! \(^_^)/

Here’s my unwanted eye shadow! Sorry, I started smashing them half way and realize I should take a pic of them first before they turn into powder! This eye shadow was previously from one of the sample box but because I don’t really use an eye shadow so I decided to sacrifices it!

*chop chop chop*

If you ask me, I would advise you to chop them finer! Coarse pieces might be difficult to blend them to your clear nail polish! YES, of course you need a clear polish to mix your eye shadow! Else how do you get your personalized nail polish color!?

After chopping them, smashing them, pounding them, you can get ready your clear polish and ……………

POUR THEM IN!

I used a unwanted plastic sheet to act as my funnel! I wouldn’t want to dirty my space with my clumsy hands – pouring eye shadow everywhere but inside the bottle! T_T

I started by pouring half the eye shadow amount and SHAKE well!

*shake shake shake*

*roll roll roll*

*drumroll*

Here’s my grey polish! It looks a bit sheer but it kinda get me excited!!

See!! Without my funnel, it became this mess when I pour in my 2nd half of my eye shadow.

Now with my whole eye shadow in the clear polish, it became more opaque!

For I-don’t-know-what reason, my nail polish turns our MATTE! hahahaha! I believe could be the “powder” that I poured in causing the texture changed. Oh well, doesn’t matter, since I can have it gloss again with my Seche Vite! V(^_^)V

After looking at it for a while, I started to think it looks a bit plain and maybe I should add some glitter (like some indie brand!) Yes, I throw in my pink glitters and…

SHAKE again!!

See…! My pink glitter grey polish!! ………. actually.. it turns out to be silver glitter! Because my pink glitter color run!!! oh faint~

Erm… So here’s my grey “GLITTER” polish! HAHAHAHAHA!! Problem one, dries matte (not a big issue though). Problem two, glitter color run. Problem three, not enough glitter.

Conclusion: TRY HARDER NEXT TIME!!!

Happy 2014!!!

To start my New Year, I painted my nails with a bling bling nail art!!

Yeap! This is the nail art to start my 2014!! This is inspired by Janelle (elleandish) and it’s pretty simple do! Check out her YouTube video below – scroll down further!

It feels like my nails are blooming with golden firework when the clock strikes 12am!! *poom poom poom* happy 2014!!!

So how to do?

Paint your nails black, or any colors you want!! But hang on……..!! Don’t forget your base coat!! 🙂 Here, Janelle used Zoya’s Avril (seems like a dusty nude pink to me) as based color, it gives a different feeling at the end!

After that, use your gold glitter polish and dap a few drop near the cuticles area. For my case I used gold. If you like, you can follow Janelle and used a silver glitter. Red/Blue/Green glitters are all great as long as you like them!

Enough of talking! Before your glitter dries up, use a nail art brush to sweep the glitter polish downwards! This will makes it feels like they are dripping. Hmm.. or i should say like waterfall effect!?

Ok, so we done. Almost done.. to make it complete, you can actually used a gold polish (not gold glitter ya!) gentle draw a few stroke down to enhance the dripping effect. But of course, if you think just glitter is good enough, then it’s totally fine. Because I like the glitter-only effect too!

Before I seal my nail art with a top coat, I actually added a red rhinestone to my thumb and middle finger! No why, I just feel that.. Since it’s lying in my box of rhinestone, maybe I can just put them to good use. 😀

So once again, when you’re done, this is how it looks like!

Evening Skyline on My Nails!

It’s bright sunny (Sun)day now but what I’m gonna show you today is my new nail art called… Evening Skyline!! This nail art design is inspired by cutepolish! I love her tutorials!! read on and I’ll share the link of her video at the end of my post! (No cheating! Don’t scroll down immediately! >_<)

Looks messy here? Of course it is messy! Had used acrylic paint here to create the evening look – acrylic paint and sponging method! It is advisable that you paint a layer of white polish first before sponging your colors so that the color stay true.

Clean up your stained cuticle using a cotton bud! You can DIY one using your orange stick if you don’t have one. Just pick some cotton using your orange stick from a cotton pad and roll them up to look like a bud!

It won’t look to far from a cotton bud! 🙂 & you can just throw away the used cotton after your clean up. Orange stick? Keep for next use!

So after your clean up, you can grab your black polish and start to paint your CITY SKYLINE! Just apply one stroke downwards and apply at different “level” to create the difference in building height!

Building lights? Easy!! Just dot yellow polish or yellow acrylic paint on your building (black polish) I had actually went an extra step dot my China Glaze Ghoulish Glow on my yellow dot! WHY!? So that when I turn off the light, my nails will glow!!!

………… But apparently, it didn’t glow as bright as I thought because the dot is too small to even “charge”! (T_T)

Next up, the moon is the challenging part for me! Because it has to be precise and neat! but oh well.. lucky it went quite alright for me.. at least for my left hand!

Result? .. Not that bad uh.. LOL! (>_<)

My Sunset Bay!

Hi guys! Been a while since i last show you some cute toe nails design! I youtube’d some video and thought that this is pretty easy to do even though I might not have all the colours!

Are you able to tell what color I’d used in this nail art? In this nail art, the only polish color I used was a white polish from China Glaze (white on white). The rest of the colors? Acrylic paint of course! Yellow… Orange… Red.. & Black!

To get this effect, all u need is a makeup sponge and use the sponging method to do it! I’ll include a video shortly at the end of the post where you can learn and DIY! My nail art was also inspired by the video from SimpleNailArtDesigns!

See! It’s beautiful! If i’m going holiday with this nail art, it would makes it PERFECT!! Beach~ Resort~ Sunset~ Ahhhhhh…. Why am I still sitting here?
