BFF edition #102 – The Little Human

My sister texted me the other day asking: “Are u pregnant?” ….That was the most random question she ever asked me. Then I realized, it was because my recent hashtag got them confused!! #DABIGTUMMY!! Lolol!!!

Today, I invited someone special to write for Tempted2love! A friend, a colleague, a first time mom! Yes! She will be sharing her experience with you & if you’re a first time mom too…. don’t miss these series of exclusive post! Here goes..

BACK TO WHEN IT ALL BEGAN..

I still remember feeling under the weather with a fever in March and I dismissed it because of a few work events and the rush to clear my work just before our Japan trip.

Packing for the trip was arduous. My jeans couldn’t fit for some reason, there was this bulge at my abdomen, and I didn’t look good in everything I wore. I figured this was the result of stress-eating and lack of exercise.

During the trip, I remember having lesser stamina and an increased in appetite. I ate more meals than Papa Ong. I also started going to the toilet at night a lot, like once-every-hour kinda thing. I was constantly tired, yet I couldn’t sleep. I felt like Goldilocks trying to search for that perfect bed.

Nagoya, Takayama, Kanazawa and Shirakawa were awesome! We spammed the Sashimi, Onsen all day, and celebrated with alcohol. Yup, all these happen while I didn’t realise I had a little human growing in me. Then again, I know if I were to have found out, I would have be so cautious and the trip would probably turn out a bore.

When we came back from Japan, I found out I have bruises at the back of my knees. It looked so bad people thought I was abused😅 Turns out, pregnant women are more prone to blood clotting.

I also went for a massage and the lady commented that my stomach was hard. I was happily telling her I just returned from Japan and must have eaten too much. She started pressing on my tummy and it was so painful, but silly me thought “she is working to cut down the fats, just endure!”

My period was delayed for a few days and I started to have a hunch I could be pregnant (It’s even more punctual than me during school days) but my besties were commenting “Must be the cold weather in Japan. Your body needs to adjust back to SG weather”.

The first time I took the test, the hormones weren’t strong enough to display it accurately. It was one thick line with a second barely-there line. A week later, my period was still not here and I decided to take the test again. 2 THICK LINES staring right back at me. We were shocked, unprepared and not expecting it.

I then quickly scheduled an appointment with the doctor and he confirmed the pregnancy. Apparently, you could be pregnant but if the egg is outside the womb, you can’t have the baby etc.

With that ultrasound, we decided to break the news to our parents and I guess they were equally surprised but we’re all very excited. I remember my grandmother clapping her hands and saying “好好好”😂

How did you find out you were pregnant? I would love to know!
