The Factory

A raise of hand, How many of you have heard of The Factory? If you have not, then you are missing out this good place for fries! But first a little direction guide first!! I searched google map and the location pinned was kinda off! Or rather, totally off! Luckily i have a colleague who had went recently and gave me advise on how to go.

See, the map shows point A??

Point A is actually a row of houses and exact location of The Factory is…………………………… *drumroll* …… on the opposite side of the road!!

If you are taking a bus from Kovan MRT (which i think there will be less walking needed to go to The Factory) below is where you will need to pass by.

Before i forget, the only bus from Kovan MRT that goes to The Factory is SBS Bus no. 136. Take 136 at the bus stop where Heartland Mall is, not the opposite that heads to Hougang.

Once you alight, walk twds the main road and turn right. Then below is what you should be seeing!388431_10151536244921745_515378897_nTurn right in again as per the pic and you’ll see carpark and a row of shophouses. Walk till the end and…….

Congratulation! You’ve just arrived The Factory!!

*My happy wifey can’t wait to eat their fries!!*

The interior is very simple and spacious. Tho it doesn’t gives me those warmth environment feel but still comfy because its spacious. I did not feel crampy or uneasy when i’m there.

Basically above pic is the main area where the order counter is & below is more like the a-little-private-area?IMG_0254

Below are some “table for 2” setting which are all of different design..

Now that we’re done with directions and interior, i think you are hungry already huh??? In fact, we are too!! they have limited items in their menu but still there’s always something for everyone, even vegetarians too!

(Check out their MENU HERE!)

Let’s start with something to drink first!

Can you guess what is this?

YES… there’s gingko.. uh-huh… that’s barley… you’re getting closer…

It’s Orange, Barley & Gingko Nut Soda! Haha! how was it?? erm.. very challenging initially but, as u slowly drink it, it taste more or less like orange juice with barley.

And this one? Can you guess?

Yes, that’s lychee! and i bet you know the smaller one is longan! best part is.. Gojiberries are added in it too! So can you guess the name already?

hahah.. you’re rite!! It’s Lychee, Longan & Gojiberry Soda!! I like this tho! The taste of the gojiberries are very mild. I love gojiberries so this soda basically is a combination of all my fav!

Gojiberries are also known as Wolfberries! It’s the fruit of Lycium barbarum (Chinese: 寧夏枸杞; pinyin: Níngxià gǒuqǐ) and Lycium chinense (Chinese: 枸杞; pinyin: gǒuqǐ), two very closely related species of boxthorn in the family Solanaceae (which also includes the potato, tomato, eggplant, deadly nightshade, chili pepper, and tobacco). It is native to southeastern Europe and Asia. You can read up more about gojiberries from WIKI..

We ordered a plate of Truffle Fries to share and we op for mixed fries instead of just plain fat fries or skinny fries.

As for our main course?

Ta-daaaa~~~ both of us ordered the Hand Battered Snapper. It comes with one dip of your choice! i chose the Marmite Honey and wifey chose Vegetarian Chilli Crab!

Marmite honey – taste a little sourish yet sweet. If you love marmite, you’ll love this! even if you don, i think this is quite an appetizing sauce that you can try!

Vegetarian Chilli Crab – NAISE!!!!! REALLY!!! with or without the “vegetarian”, it makes no diff to me.. not like this chilli crab sauce will be green in color!! It taste really like chilli crab!! If you can only choose ONE dip, TAKE THIS! But if you feel chilli crab is not very special as you can just order the real thing from any tze char stall, then forget about this.. tho i find it really nice!!!!IMG_0279

This is the regular tartar sauce for our snapper…

And shortly after, we decided to grab two more other dips to try!

Spicy Tomato w Chinchalok –  This was indeed spicy. dun get tricked by the word “tomato”. 🙂 Love the combination with chinchalok

Chinchalok (or Cincalok) is a Malaccan food made of fermented small shrimps or krill and the taste is salty. It is usually served as acondiment together with chillis, shallots and lime juice. It is similar to Bagoong Alamang (shrimp paste) in the Philippines.

Laksa with Roasted Cashew Nut – For me, there is no laksa fragrance in it and out of all the dips we have, i think this is the most disappointing one.

Now are we done with dinner?? OF COURSE!! So much potato we nearly feel like one!

We shall now have some dessert to end this happy dining!!

Flavours available? Plenty! ask for a tinee weeny bit to try first if u’re unsure whether you will like it.

Then now, choose your topping!! Not alot but enuff to make me indecisive! IMG_0259

So we got ourselves Belgian Choc and Cappuccino.

And topping? Attap seed with Lime and Gin!!

seriously, if i din see the name, i wun know there’s lime and gin in it.. LOL..

Overall, The Factory is a good place to chill and food are priced quite reasonable.

You can visit their website HERE or check out their Facebook page HERE!

Hope you’ll have fun @ The Factory!!
