近日，《爱游戏(ayx)中国官方网站》开发商Gearbox宣布，Gearbox Studio Shanghai今日成立，由Eidos Shanghai更名而来。

Gearbox Publishing总裁表示：“中国是工业人才的温床，我相信Gearbox Shanghai工作室有助于我们实现国际化发展，大大提高与中国爱游戏ayx官方家互动的能力，并有机会直接与优秀的本地工作室开展合作。”

Eidos Shanghai工作室成立于2008年，曾参与《爱游戏(ayx)中国官方网站》和《爱游戏(ayx)中国官方网站》等作品的开发。由于母公司Embracer收购了Eidos，Gearbox得以接管该工作室，并成为作为开拓亚洲市场的先锋。

Gearbox Entertainment, developer of the Borderlands series of games, has announced the opening of a new studio in Shanghai. The opening marks Gearbox’s first expansion into Asia and highlights the company’s commitment to better targeting the Chinese market.
To open its first studio in Asia, Gearbox Entertainment acquired Eidos Shanghai, a company behind games like Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and more. The studio has been renamed Gearbox Studio Shanghai and will assist the company in its “hyper-localized marketing efforts” in the Chinese market. Gearbox Studio Shanghai will also be “providing immediate and meaningful support” to select Gearbox titles.
Prior to joining Gearbox, Eidos Shanghai has been part of the Eidos-Montreal studio network since 2008, working on various games published by Square Enix. In August 2022, Embracer Group acquired several former Square Enix studios, including Eidos-Montreal. Embracer Group is also the owner of Gearbox, which is now taking its first steps in the Asian continent by turning Eidos Shanghai into Gearbox Studio Shanghai. The management of the studio has remained the same as former head of Eidos Shanghai Jiji Ning is now the general manager of Gearbox Studio Shanghai. The studio will work on future Gearbox projects and report to Gearbox’s publishing house in San Francisco.
With the opening of Gearbox Studio Shanghai, the company expressed its desire to expand its presence in the Chinese market. Gearbox can now rely on the experience of Eidos Shanghai to better interact with Chinese players and “work directly with local up-and-coming development studios.” Gearbox has yet to announce upcoming projects for its Shanghai studio. However, the company has previously hinted that it will have more games based on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and has stated that it is working on several AAA titles. In addition to helping develop future games, Gearbox Studio Shanghai will provide support for existing games such as Tiny Tina’s Wonderland and New Tales from the Borderlands for the Chinese market.
